Recycled Purses, Recycled Handbags and The Art of Upcycling

Introducing The Bella* Designer Line of Recycled Purses, Recycled Handbags and Recycled Totes

Hi Everyone,

It's been quite some time since we last blogged.  I am glad to be back and have some great updates for you about Sara Bella* Upcycled including our introduction of the Bella* Designer Line.

Every piece in this collection is designed by the owner of Sara Bella* Upcycled, Sara Wiener. The fabric and materials for each piece is 100% hand-made by Sara.  Each recycled piece is carefully crafted out of used plastic bags and all of the colorful pieces have over ten layers of plastic for added durability.  The fabric is thick, smooth, washable and extremely tough.  These recycled purses and recycled handbags are sure to last a lifetime.  Wouldn't you rather have your plastic bags last a lifetime of function and fashion instead of a lifetime in a landfill?

To Date, Sara Bella* Upcycled Has Saved Over 67,500 Plastic Bags From Landfills!!!

The Bella* Designer Line's recycled purses and recycled handbags are made of at least 95% upcycled materials.  The metal fittings, snaps, grommets, thread and tubing handles are the only parts of our upcycled pieces that are new.  Strong plastic tubing covered with plastic bag fabric that matches the bag color makes up the strong and durable handles for the Bella* Line.

All of the Bella* line recycled purses, recycled handbags and recycled totes have a large inside pocket area that is great for makeup, cellphones and other odds and ends. Nickel k
ey rings are also conveniently located on each recycled purse, recycled handbag and recycled totes to make finding your keys a cinch.

The Bella* line is named after Sara's grandmother who spent her life as a master seamstress and was as beautiful as her name suggests.  The bright, fun colors in the Bella* line pay homage to Bella's bright spirit and energy.

Plastic in our seas. It's not good. Do something.

And Man created the plastic bag and the tin and aluminum can and the cellophane wrapper and the paper plate, and this was good because Man could then take his automobile and buy all his food in one place and He could save that which was good to eat in the refrigerator and throw away that which had no further use. And soon the earth was covered with plastic bags and aluminum cans and paper plates and disposable bottles and there was nowhere to sit down or walk, and Man shook his head and cried: "Look at this Godawful mess." ~ Art Buchwald. At Sara Bella* Upcycled we use empty dog food, cat food, and swine food bags for our products. Yup- swine food...you know, for those cute little piggies that grow up to be your bacon. Well, the bags make great material for our products. You can even see one in this photo with the green graphic in the middle of the white bag. Here I am hanging the freshly washed (at the laundromat in the xxl machines) animal food bags out to dry. Too bad it started raining one minute after finishing the job! But that's ok- here in Bend, Oregon you can wait a few minutes and the sun will return!
Save those bags!
Love, Sara*
